FreeCol 0.2.0 Released

A new version of FreeCol has been release. FreeCol is an open source implementation of Colonization, a game that is a lot like Civilization. The game is still in the very early stages of development and it’s not possible yet to actually ‘play a game’, but I’d appreciate any comments. The game can be found here.

Looking good! I’m afraid I never played Colonisation (being more of a Civilisation fan), but I’ve heard it is an excellent game.

The graphics are looking gorgeous - a nice clean isometric engine. The unit graphics are excellent, who develops them for you?

I have been watching your project for a little while. I loved colonization, my brother still plays it all the time.

Can you build a city yet? I could not figure out how if you can.

Full screen for me is just all yellow, windowed works fine though.

Thanks, they were made by a guy named Stephen. At the website you can find a link to his homepage (in the Art section).

You can’t build a city yet, version 0.3.0 will have a first implementation of that.

There are many people who are having problems with the full screen mode. Are you able to run other full screen Java apps? Because if that’s the case then we’re doing something wrong.

yeah, i have run others
