If you haven’t tried the HIGHLY addictive Puzzle Pirates by Three Rings, you need to so. This is a massively multiplayer on line role playing game (MMORPG) that is 100% JAVA! Among the benefits to the developer was the ability to publish on 3 platfomrs at the same time (Win, OSX and Linux). As well, the server uses Java technology.
The big news here is that the game is now being picked up for retail distribution by one of thelargest video game companies in the industry, Ubisoft. This proves that independent developers can build a compelling game that is commercially viable in an increasingly competitive market.
My heartfelt congratulations to Daniel James and the fine folks at Three Rings on their success! If you decide to play the game, please get out to the store and purchase their retail version (only $20) and help keep this awesome little company pumping out great games (in Java no doubt!)
