Final Fantasy based game - Angel's Destiny

Hi,

There is a lot of code inside in my directory then you have to look at http://johan.yellowcouch.org/java/

Screenshots are available at the site.

Now here’s feeping creaturism next as the source has elven lands with a thief lair and gnomes in the mountains. Everything is 2D which is a bit old, but you have to like the system or not.

All the best,
Erana

Hi

You claim that your game is based on Final Fantasy, please don’t use any copyrighted content without the prior consent of its copyright owners. You can find some artworks under open licenses on opengameart.org, which is (in my humble opinion) better and more honest. Good luck.

Oh come on @gouessej

As long as you aren’t selling anything asking forgiveness rather than permission is fine - don’t worry about it. Plus you can always change the art later.

  1. There is nothing wrong in trying to be safe in the first place.
  2. Changing the art later once the game is well received will make it feel like you are playing a totally different game suddenly, from the middle.

Looks interesting! I’ve always had a soft spot for the old Final Fantasy games.

Sorry to disturb you.

Sorry to contradict you but using copyrighted content without the consent of the copyright owner(s) even though you aren’t selling anything is illegal.

Edit.: I agree with SHC. Moreover, it’s good to accept to start a project by the beginning, even with crappy artworks. When you start making a cake, do you expect that the ingredients will magically appear in front of you? Making a game can require months or years of “work”. If you want to get a nice result immediately lazily, maybe game programming isn’t for you.

Apology accepted.

Not a contradiction. A technical fact. A weak one at that, almost embarrassingly so, considering the context. Fair use doctrine and all that. But I forgive you and accept your apology.

There’s a saying in my country, something about how nobody is born a smith. Granted it doesn’t translate well - but what I’m trying to say, bearing no judgement of course, is that perhaps walking through life with a baguette up one’s bum bum may not be the most graceful of parades.

There’s now a neat start of a random maze builder with different sized blocks, see the Maze.java files at the site above. The purpose is to make a Demon Mage that makes the walls move with the incident battle system of FF2 and find some trinkets on they way out.

The demon maze is done, I am now working on a 64000x48000 pixels plane of a Vampire Overlord. There’s some good characters in there already together with an AI system for buildings and NPCs.

If you have some ideas for an undead plane such as in the game Ultima 8 I’d like you to share.

The type of plane maybe is over the top but I’ll try to get something out of http://forgottenrealms.wikia.com , Castlevania games and wargame books.

Enjoy,
erana

Screen captures?

Screenshots are at :

I’ll submit some more later on.

What I mean is: you need to include an image in your first post. It is required for the image reel of WIP projects shown on the home page of JGO.

There are now 10 levels with combats, about 20+ monsters, a spellbook and inventory system. All graphics have been licensed. There is combat player addition code and the story goes from a human to a grand undead plane controlled by a Vampire, with good guys on this plane also with which you can talk.

See the README for keyboard controls.

I might work on another project from now on, as I am tired of the system and have some Java code for some sort of beat’emup. I will start another thread for it.

Happy Coding,
erana

Please can you elaborate?

This is an example of what can happen to somebody infringing a copyright even though he was selling nothing:
