Quick question: How long does the license hold? e.g.: Is there a point at which I have to buy the full version for 1500$?
The license won’t expire. See http://www.excelsiorjet.com/charity#faq:

As this is the Standard version, you’ll need to buy/upgrade to another license if you want to target OS X, or create any 64-bit builds.
