Ye, it’s kinda popular. It’s the image wich won a rather big contest in the year 2000 or so.
why the hell do ppl use Cars in gridlock like that 
Because computers are very, very good at rendering static scenes, and very, very bad at giving the impression of movement. Much better to have them all gridlocked than unconvincingly blurred.
(Also, large cities are almost always gridlocked in damp conditions anyway…)
