Epilepsy 2014

Disclaimer:

This game involves flashy lights, intense 8-bit music, and intense screen shaking. Play at your own risk! Name was chosen for comedic reasons. No discrimination of any kind was meant.

Description:

Epilepsy is an arcade shooter much like Zombie Nauts, but with a twist. The better you are, the trippier it gets!

Controls:

Arrow keys to move.

Space to shoot.

This game is my toy project. Even though it says finished/stable, the game will never be finished. I will consantly be making the game trippier and more intense as I go along!

517 mb?? What?

I’m working on separating them based on operating systems. Don’t worry!

That’s still over 100 mb per OS 0.0

Fixed! now onmly 86mb

That’s still insanely huge for such a small game 0.0

Don’t use .wav’s for music, use ogg’s, preferably. 86Mb is really way too much.
~88Mb (unpacked) just for music is insane unless you have an extensive soundtrack or something, but for 2 files? Not so great.
I believe TinySound can stream .ogg’s from the disk, so that should work fine.

My guess is the music? Unless he’s using a ton of random huge libraries.
EDIT: ah, yeah, .wav files would do it.

OP:
Scored 252! I am awesome! :stuck_out_tongue: I have to admit, that was more fun than I expected, probably just because the music somehow fits the craziness of it all. My suggestion, somehow reward the player for firing less. I noticed that it really boiled down to me spamming fire until my weapon overheated, then spamming it again. I didn’t really get rewarded for “carefully shooting”. If I was supposed to, the reward wasn’t noticeable.

Still, oddly fun game. :stuck_out_tongue:

I was originally going to use TinySound but I never got it working. Could someone lead me to a tutorial?

Ray: What do you use for SixtyGig?

Right now? Nothing yet, my game has no sound yet.

But I plan to use JOrbis.

Ray respond to my PM I want to talk about some tile based stuff in slick.

Really nice game!
Where did you get / How did you make the music?
