Eclipse Callisto: 45 minutes to go

Just curious who’s going to jump early and what projects you’re interrested in.

From what I ready , some of the additions to Eclipse 3.2 include Java6 support, new refactoring abilities, better code-assist and new options for handling files and projects. There is also what sounds to be a very basic memory watcher as well ( when you execute the code it will let you watch how much of your heap is in use ). Not really a full blown “profiler” but you can start getting an idea of how much control you have over memory usage and for people with no habbit of profiling yet it may be an eye opener.

There are also several related packages / updates coming out with Callisto. Among those the one I’m most interrested in is the Test & Performance Tools Platform ( TPTP ). I’ll also probably take a look at the Visual Editor and Data Tools since I haven’t really been able to poke those yet.

For myself, I’m going to wait until this weekend to grab it since ( 1 ) I’m at work and (2) it’s going to be a mad rush for the first 24 hours. ::slight_smile:

[quote]Callisto will be delayed for a bit. Unforeseen circumstances. Uncontrollable events. We don’t have an ETA yet, but stay tuned for information. We do expect it to be released today.

;D

I was watching the countdown clock off and on, and when I checked it about 2 minutes after the release time it said: “Sorry. You’re too late.” ::slight_smile:

I wouldn’t be surprised if it has nothing to do with the project deliveries, but rather their servers were crushed by demand. Posting a countdown clock for something like this is almost like setting up a domain called unhackable.com. You’re just asking for trouble.
