DooM 4K

Well,

This is my second entry, is not complete yet, but I have space to put the enemies code.

Webstart is here:

Feedback is wellcome!

NICE !!! Though I experience some flickering with the wallas and the celling I think this will be the game that could beat dungeon4k. It is very nice moving.

I have some suggestions for the movement:

Sideway stepping on A and D would be nice, I would be great of the mouse controlled the horisontal direction instead of the arrow keys, but I know 4K isnt enough. I just had to skip lots of ideas myself with Step Stones 4k.

Anyways, this game rocks. Even if it was not a 4k game I would still be amazed

I get an exception when it tries to launch. :frowning:

It may be the Webstart… I will put a link for direct download.

Is it possible to make it 1.4 compatible. There is still alot of people like me that have not upgraded yet.

It was programmed with 1.4.2_03, but in home I have 1.5.0_01 and compiled with it!

I upgraded to play the entries of the 4k comp! (and because Eclipse3.1M4 let me use 1.5 syntax)

A lot of us cannot / will not upgrade for some time to come for the standard sensible reasons (it’s unhelpful, it’s less stable, etc)

Ok,

New version online.
Webstart:
http://www.dcc.uchile.cl/~rcarvall/j4k/2005/DooM4K.php

Features:
*Strafe: ALT + left, right
*time based animation
*corrected wall flickering
*minimap in corner
*enemies (red blocks) in the stage

To Do:
* Shots & killing (otherwise it can’t be called DooM)
* Fit the game in 4K (jar size: 4452 Bytes)

Your feedback is always wellcome!

Looking good!

You need to check the depth sorting out between monsters and walls though.

Nice mini-map, not quiet a game yet…

Could not play on my linux box (jsdk1.4.2_02) because the controls are very slow to respond
