Do you recommend a break

Last night I was up for 5 - 6 hours working on my Ludum Dare project and tonight another 4 - 7 hours. All i really have is a tiny guy who jumps on platforms but my jumping logic is weird and crappy. I feel like giving up and a bit tired. Is such little accomplishment normal? Would a break help?

Ludum Dare is for fun. If you’re not having fun, and you can’t see yourself getting to a point where you can have fun, then you should stop.

I dropped out of it this morning after 8 hours of work and not much to show for it. I’ve had a pretty good day working on other stuff instead.

I’m guessing you spent a lot more time on your other projects? (11!)

less breaks, more easy projects

Breaks are gonna make you antsy and make you want to come back and do something huge. Which will leave you feeling like now.

Break the cycle and just rush prototype things like pong/space invaders/doodle jump/etc. Simple games you could do in a couple hours until your fundamentals are solid. Then move onto bigger and better things  Also it helps you practice something most people need work at: finishing games from start to finish.

Sure needed that break. I feel fresh and strong and love what I have. Ready to fight the code. *boom *pow *pow

;D

Fun Fact: Kit-Kats are a Hershey product in the US, but Nestle everywhere else.

Fun fact: They are also overpriced shit

MON THE TWIX’S!!!

But… you don’t fight the code. You feel the code.

What do you mean by “feel”? Is comforting the code the key?

stop trying to code and code!

Feel as in feel the force, Luke. But you can’t fight code, you wrote it after all, it’s you.

This is some next level shit.

Im on a day break at the moment , usually what happens is ill play a game , then when I die ill program for about 2 hours , implement some extra awesomeness then return the game oblivious to the fact my fingers were moving so fast that charlie sheen would be proud.
