Senior Java Software Engineer, Online Game Development

Responsibilities:
You will be part of a small, focused team that develops multiplayer Java games and their supporting infrastructure, which will be deployed through the EA Online network, including the AOL games channel and pogo.com. You will take the lead on key projects and will create solid, flexible, reusable frameworks that can be used as the basis for future development efforts. You will be expected to serve as a mentor for your teammates, in order to help them refine their software engineering skills. Your work will be enjoyed by millions of people on the stickiest game network on the Internet.

Requirements:
A BS in Computer Science or related field (MS a plus) and 5+ years of experience is required. The candidate should have professional experience in Java development and a thorough understanding of object-oriented principles and design patterns. Must have familiarity with graphical programming, multithreading/synchronization issues, and client/server development. Experience developing a 3-D rendering engine is a plus.

Must have worked as a technical lead on a previous software project through the entire development and release cycle. Prior game development experience is required. Java client/server development experience, comfort with Java Server Pages, and familiarity with the cross-platform, cross-browser portability issues of Java applets are definite pluses.

Electronic Arts is an equal opportunity employer.

If your skill set and interest align with the above then Get in the Game. Forward your resume to techresumes@ea.com.

Ok, thats me. Where will I have to work??

Ha! No, it sounds like me!
But I bet it’s nowhere near the southwest of England, and I’m not moving for anything, ever.

Cas

Appears to be in California, but it is a nice turn up for the books that EA are looking at Java seriously.

Shame its not in the UK or I’d be forced to apply,

Kev

I used to have all new EA positions emailed to me when they appear, but Java never appeared, so I think I unsubscribed.

EA’s jobs page appears to be dead. Anyone got a better link?

The page works for me, but I cannot find that position

Our jobs site is not very well organized, but the job is there. Best way to find it is to go to jobs.ea.com - search for Java, then click on “Redwood Shores” (where the job is, BTW). It should show up as SW Engineer III.

You can also enter the Job’s ID “NAONL0503001” in the search field.

wow ea goes java 8)

UPDATE - There are now 3 positions open in my group, all more or less fitting this description. Also, Chinese speakers get extra credit. We’re moving in to new online gaming markets…

Wow, now I’ll have to think twice before posting a crappy code fragement if the mighty EA is going to be creeping around these forums. :stuck_out_tongue:

Is there supposed to be a way to contact pogo games for something other than technical support (like the page got swallowed by the jobs page)?

The job site is pretty hard to navigate. You can send resumes to me directly. I’m FirstinitialLastname at ea dot com.

Sr. Manager, Pogo Game Development
