Nice game ^^
Works great on a ubuntu 5.04, jdk1.5.0_5 over an athlon@1.3ghz 512ram
it was pretty fun…
for even more fun… make it a multiplayer game where you can send your minions on your enemy as well…
Hmm… the webstart will not start for some reason…
I’ll try again when I’m on my home computer.
oh, i like it pretty good idea and fun
I played it, fun, but could do with a little more extras.
Well, I don’t know, a little variety of some kind, perhaps. Like multi player support, or being able to use crazier weapon types, the works. Bascially just expanding the game beyond its current build. I leave the ideas up to the developer.
Why is the jws thingy signed? If its able to run in a sandbox, it should run in one.
The download size is rather big… and more than half of the size is used by one image… and another hefty chunk by another. Eg that back.gif thing. Use a jpg for that and put the hud stuff into other gif/png images. Doing so you end up with about 40kb instead of 400. And the other one… mmmh… most of the size was used for the gradient stuff (heavy dithering). Yea yea… just some kb… in this day n age yadda yadda… well, if its just 350kb it will load fast for dial up users, too.
The jar also contains two java files and the .project and .classpath files, which doesnt really belong there
I love the fact that I can accidentally shot myself by shooting too high with the spread shot
Cool stuff. Kindof like an arcade version of Cannon Fodder Maybe you should add an option to skip to the later levels instantly. Also give the player some of the other weapons at the start just to play around with. And make it so you press Enter to start, Esc to restart.
If you want to play with the different weapons press the “+” sign.
I survived with a score of 3880! Woo! Fun game
I also agree that this could be something more… hmm… multiplayer of course WOULD be nice, but I think single player could be made more interesting.
The thing I like most about the original “Defend your Castle” is the idea of the upgrades you can purchase and keep. Perhaps introduce your own unique way of spending points earned on upgrades such as faster fire rate? Perhaps an auto-fire sentry or denser walls or a shield that you can shoot out of but blocks projectiles coming in. All sorts of good stuff I like to buy and keep upgrades ;D
But as of right now, it kept me entertained through the whole game, so you have a great start!
