I could find via the official site darkstar subproject called Tanks but it seemed to be written against some older API then the current one. I was wondering if there are any examples on the net where one could download the code and learn darkstar by the example?
Some tutorials and documentations are in the package when you download the SGS lib, I learned from there.
Yup. The old examples are out of date I’m afraid and no one has had the time to update them.
Look at the tutorial in the download for basic examples.
I’m writing a simple SNES style multi-player game and a text MUD example for JavaOne that might be available after that.
I believe Seth has ported his nethack example to 0.9, I’m not sure what plans are for release on that but you could try asking him.
Yeeeaaaaaah. About that.
I ported the code enough that I could use it as a stress-test for our new stack. That said, it’s no where near to “correct” or “example quality” or even “good.” If I get some free time I will work getting up to the last of those three so that the code can be shared.

ok, so I’m writing the simple game as an example for my local JUG meeting. I wonder if I could add it later on to SGS as one of the example games for people to download. Whom I should contact to discuses it ? The game will be simple but should show all th basic ideas of the darkstar project (direct communication,. using channels etc.)

Absolutely. We’d love to have it. You could do it now except that we are re-working the community site to be more useful and friendly.\
We should be back in full operation though by Java One!
As u can see:

the game is simple but so was the developing process
No SGS knowledge whatsoever and yet it toook only 7 hours to develop it (2 hours for tutorials) . Pretty cool how fast one can develop such a game
if u would like to addit as one of the sample games for people to download - i would be more then happy
