Hi! I’m here with a small roguelike I’ve made, done with slick2d and marteEngine:

It’s a “classic” roguelike with permadeath, monsters and simple objective: find an exit for next level. Could you please give me some feedback about it? I really appreciate it!

I believe the problem is that you don’t have a download link on you post directly. If you did, I bet someone here (Me at least) would check it out. It looks good to me, however, all I’m basing it off of is images.

.Adding music, and perhaps sounds when you hover / click menu buttons would be cool. I’m also curious - are there any particular goals to the game? Aberration killed me before I got too far :P.

In development version I have added sounds for interface (basic, nothing particular) and item pickup, player movements and so on.
It’s good Aberration killed you, because Aberrations are really strong enemy, but for me fun in roguelikes is find your way to victory! Goal for the game so far is to find exit and finish five levels :smiley:

It worked fine here. I died a lot and I’m not really sure how I’m supposed to fight some enemies without dying. I haven’t found any weapons or armor yet. It might help a little, if it would be clearer that the enemy hits you. The attack sounds are just a very weak “click”, even less noticable than the actual walking sounds. Some “ouch” sound when the player gets hit would be nice. And I find the floor tiles to be too distracting. These dark grey line are too dominant IMHO. That makes it unnecessary hard to spot the enemies.

There aren’t any weapons or armor, I plan to add in next version, with experience and level progression and maybe in future some skills. For now as player you have to choose when fight. Some enemies are tough!
I’m not sure if as player is fun, but for my roguelike experience is part of fun understand enemies and develop tactics to kill them, what do you think?

There is a “red” overlay on top of player when enemies hit you, I plan to add some sort of “damage count” or “hp loss” indication to make it clear

Thanks, I have to work on it, because in CryptoRL2 you are lost in a dark dungeon into underworld, so dark colors are dominant

Its been nearly 19 days. It seems like centuries have gone by since I saw this post :smiley:

I really like the art of the game. It is very… hard pixeled. Meaning there is hard lines on the character being that small and lightly detailed.

I have no opinion on the monsters.

For me seems centuries too :smiley:
