hi coders,

i’ve written a small demo-framework to test jogl.
3 demos are inside, the first two are imported from NeHe.

“Jogl Runner” is a java webstart app (<1.5 mb) and its source is downloadable.

intention is feedback from many platforms, to see, if jogl runs without problems.

True Color 32 bit desktop settings

90 FPS - World
109 FPS - spinning textured cube

frame rates dropped by about 40% when all test running together

The Jogl-Runner app doesn’t constantly show all of the “sub apps”. It sometimes launches with only “Lesson02”, or “Lesson02” and “Lesson06”, or “Lesson02” and “Lesson06” and “Earth Sattelit”.

Here are the FPS from a time when all three showed up:
Lesson06 fps: ~350
Earth Sattelit fps: ~350

Running both at once causes it to crash.

Computer: PowerBook G4 1Ghz, ATI Radeon 9000 Mobility with 64 megs of VRAM

works fine on:

Gentoo Linux (Kernel 2.6.5)
ATI Radeon 9800XT - OpenGL 1.3

Lesson06 got 700 fps and the satellite demo got around 600 fps.

Hey, this is java you can ‘ByteOutput’-stream that information yourself :slight_smile:

I got 1800fps and 1500fps respectively.
ati radeon9800 pro.
2.6ghz intel and a asus …something… motherboard.
512 system memory.

Runs fine and smooth.
My specs:

Toshiba Notebook
1.0 GHz Mobile P3
Geforce 2 Go 16 MB
512 MB RAM

Windows XP Home
J2SE 1.5b

Hi Olaf,
I had problems
lesson 2 works
other two give me a gray screen and app locks up
java console is blank gray screen also
linux Fedora Core 1
dual PIII on SuperMicro mb
nvidia 5200 card, latest drivers

It works on my linux box at work. Dual Opterons running Gentoo linux with the 2.6.3 kernel. Nvidia Geforce Ti with 128 megs of vram.

Lesson6: ~910
Earth Sattelit: ~785

Running both at the same time locks up the program.

“Jogl Runner” was my 1th independant java-jogl-webstart test.
this proram will be improved soon!

i can say that jogl is ready to run on linux,mac and windows.
does anybody have a solaris (sparc) system :slight_smile: ?
