Coming back...

I’m back online just for giving an answer for some people who didin’t wanted me to stop developpement of 2d games.
So, i organized a skype meeting with all SLDT (StoneLineDevTeam) members, to decide what do we need to do about the BrickBroken’s 2d game engine witch has been created and believe to SLDT. It results something that i never thought : asking you about what we should do with it.

Before you can tell us, you need to know that this game engine has been recently (before close of BrickBroken) upgraded, so here are new features :

  • The game engine can work now on Android Devices that can load OpenGL and LWJGL.
  • The game engine itself can now use another main directory instead of %appdata% ; indead now you can for example load the engine from the app directory (new File(".")).
  • The game engine can now load application icons without bugging.
  • Unfortunatly, custom cursors are still unusable.

Note : Android feature cannot be tested because none of us has any android devices. But that not means we can’t handle crash from users. We can support this feature.

Another notice is about what we can do with that engine :

  • Making a new game with it (In this case, please give us the game type you want).
  • Deleting the whole game engine.
  • Never coming back here.
We only want you your idea about this game engine. All your posts will never be published in our websites, we will only count your ideas like votes.
So please say the truth. Don’t be afraid of what you will say, just say what you want.

This is a weird post … that does not really give much information.
Make a game if you feel like, do not make a game if not.

Btw, what is that fooder down there?

Exactly. Yuri we all know who you are, we know your game, just make it or don’t. But enough with the honestly sob story posts.

I’ve read your posts, and I’ve come to notice there is quite a language barrier. (and yes, this has been told you earlier. I read the posts ;D) My personal opinion is that you’re not a bad programmer (or person), you’re just having some difficulties communicating with the community.

I cannot discourage you to continue making games, but I just want to give you the advice to make sure you fully understand what a person tells you through reactions/posts/whatever.

I think you didn’t understand correctly…
I’m not asking about BrickBroken, I’m asking if you want a new game with the game engine BrickBroken used ? If you realy want a new game with it, just tell me what type of game you want.

Yuri6037 (SLDT’s Fondator)

Again Yuri. Just make games. You shouldn’t be worried about what other people think when coding your games because then you will let other people take over your hobby and ruin the fun.

At this point I think you’re just desperate for attention, but this isn’t the way to get what you want. If you want people to notice your engine and your games and respect you, then you need to show us something complete.

One of the nicest things about independent game development is that YOU as developer may choose what kind of game you want. I wouldn’t mind you making another game and posting it here, but I gave you advice on how to handle with feedback given to you from posts on this forum.

You didn’t understand our posts Yuri. We don’t need any posts explaining what you’ve did nor what we’re expecting from you. You shouldn’t be thinking about thinking what others think of you. You should remain as yourselves. If you are willing to do just what others said, you are going to end as a robot and I know that you aren’t one. Do whatever game you want, being yourself as you.

That sentence, when you read it

Yes but… I honestly don’t know what type of game i should do… I had an idea, but i think none will like it. In plus i didn’t spoke about this idea to SLDT team.

My idea is to make a new Happy Wheels, but with several modifications :

  • Remove loading stuck,
  • Make Android compatible,
  • Increase the object limit up to 4096 or 16000,
  • Level packs,
  • Mods,
  • Maybe Multiplayer.

How about I use some friendly cursing to get my point across.

You have roughly 1 fk. What do you want to do with that fk?

Don’t give a fk about the people, only give a fk about what you want to do.

Forget the people, develop what you think is fun to develop, regardless of how it appeals to the community.

Oh, you wish to make the community happy?

Take a shit in one hand, and make a wish in the other. Which hand has reality in it? People suck ass, so if they become a problem, realise that you aren’t alone and just ignore them.

  • Jev

Welcome back Yuri,

Honestly, I would just like to see you finish a game. If you can do that, it’d be great. The less bloated the process, the better it’ll be. It is reasons like this why I started to code for my own passions and ignored everyone else. If you code for yourself, you are much more likely to finish something. For me, I can care less about opinions as all of them are just chances for improvement down the line. Constructive criticism is how I look at all user feedback, good or bad.

The ultimate thing to remember is that most users can’t do what you can. Don’t give up on it because there is no way they’ll do any better than you can on your game.

You stopped working on a project because someone on the internet told you and now you are asking some random internet guys if you should continue ::slight_smile:

Honest answer:
Don’t restart if you need other people to tell you what to do, because in that case you will fail anyway.
You aren’t making games for us, as long as they don’t get popular they are just for you and because you enjoy creating them.

Just fucking do it and stop asking, no one is going to care either way, we just want to help solve problems, expand on ideas and showcase our projects.

CREATE YOUR GAME, you will learn and adapt the next one to what people want.

This seems to be one of the few cases where aspiring to be indie is not going to work out. Please seek a job, with a boss, to… well, boss you around. You’ll love it. I’m not kidding.

Those features are what made brickbroken unusable and bloated. Whatever you make, make it local, without ability to mod, open source (so you arnt tempted to add security features), and simple.
