Cleaning the forums a bit.

Hello, I’ve been lurking in java-gaming.org since the new launch of the site. This is actually my first post to the forums and I’d have some suggestions.

These forums are really an excellent resource but I think they could be a little bit differently organized.
IMHO some forums are in the wrong place now, e.g. the game physics-forum should be at the General Game Topics.
And I think there really really should be a general game programming forum.

I’m suggesting something like this:

Suggestions
Off Topic

General Game Topics

Game News
Game Programming
Game Play/Design/Ideas
Game Physics/Math
Your games here

Changes are small but I think it looks a lot cleaner now.

Oh and a small thing about hte search page: ‘Max Age since last post’ should be defaulted to 365 days.

I’m thinking about collapsing most of the forums into a much smaller set.

I think that makes sense…that way it would be easier to add new 3rd party stuff, but maybee we don’t want that :wink: ?

I generally agree with your layout. IMO networking and online game dev could become one forum, and potentially other forums could be combined/reworked. If done right it could increase discussions without increasing noise.

Online Games are not network games. There is a difference, really ;).

What do the other guys here think about changing the layout? spaceghost doesn’t change anything till enough interest is shown :slight_smile:
