Cell Phone - LG 6070

Hi, all. I’ve noticed that some of you have the LG 5350.
I’m buying a new phone in September and this LG 6070 (new as of May 04, 2004) is looking pretty good. Here’s the specifics:

7 Lines (128 x 160 pixels) display
65k colors
WAP 2.0
JAVA yes
BREW no

I’m looking to develope my own programs for my own cell-phone.

Now for the questions. I’m a newbie to MIDP and J2ME. What does MIDP do for me? Do I need BREW to develope my own software?

I’m really just hoping for something I can use to take my own programs with me.

Shakes head in disbelief, what is the point of having the technical details of a phone if they don’t tell you the specifics =/

Does ‘Yes’ mean MIDP1.0 or MIDP2.0?
It being a new phone I would expect the latter.

I suppose this isn’t technically incorrect, but I wonder if they are saying 65K instead of 64K, simply because from a marketing perspective ‘bigger number=better’.

I’ve seen that a lot (the 65K color thing). I guess it’s because the think of K as 1000 and not 1024.

In response to the OP:
Yes, MIDP is enough to develop applications for your phone. In fact, it would be easier to start out with MIDP than BREW. And with BREW, to get the application on your phone you need to pay $$$ to Qualcomm.

I’ve been doing my research, reading the phone’s user manual and white papers and borchure. I may be getting too into it, but I’m looking for wording that specifically tells me I can upload applications direct from my computer to my phone. I know none of you may have the answer to that, but am I looking into it too much? Does any phone with JAVA support inherently allow you to upload from PC to mobile?
