bluej got revamped? and supported by oracle?

hey, I had to use bluej for the first time in a long time, and I noticed that in the splash screen it said int he corner “supported by oracle”. also it got slightly revamped, and the editor is different, with text highlighing and other things.

anybody else notice this? could this mean anything?

well makes sense for Oracle to support such a project as its mainly used for teaching and introducing people to programming and java.

As for proper projects and larger code bases, bluej simply can’t manage them well enough.

hahah, thats why its beena long time since I used it

It doesn’t aim to, it’s for education.

Sun no longer exists so yes the sponsorship has moved to Oracle. Greenfoot has also been updated to state it’s sponsored by Oracle too (and I personally did the footer on the Greenfoot Gallery a week or two ago). The new editor has been needed for a long time and I’m really glad it’s updated now. One new thing I like is how it now visually shows the different levels of scope; although the error messages are also much nicer now. Again that’s also been moved over to Greenfoot since version 2.
