Blog six replies limit

I have a problem. I cannot post into my own development blog any more:

It says “Posting this message would cause 6 consecutive replies from you in this topic.”.
Does this make sense for development blogs?

I can’t think of JGO as a blog for my game, you’d normally have your own blog for your game’s development. It is sort of advertisement when you post it here, but instead of money you receive feedback, and suggestions.

Thanks for your answer. Yes that is exactly my intention. Hoping for feedback and suggestions.
Yes, “Blog” is the wrong term, if a Blog is only one direction. The other direction is of course very important and valuable. But life is hard…
The problem remains. And the question: Does this make sense?

Post less frequently with more content? I see you added new screenshots, but maybe consider posting when you have the new world done?

I’m not really sure, I wasn’t aware there was a limit. Anyway I posted a little suggestion for you so…that should solve your problem for now. Don’t go all postal though…get it…come on…it’s a joke…

ok I feel bad about that :emo:

Many thanks! This gives me a reprieve

I didn’t know about this limit until…

Like SHC said, JGO should not be used as a blog. If people haven’t responded after you made 5 consecutive posts, odds are you’re not doing it quite right.
It’s okay to reach out to the community to work around this limit, the point of it is mainly to address the issue and hopefully alter the behavior somewhat  Even on a technical forum such as this you have to think a little about your ‘marketing’.

That’s not entirely true. People can find it interesting without responding.

How can ‘odds are…’ not be entirely true? (or any other of the sentences in my reply, for that matter). I know right, semantics, but still :stuck_out_tongue:

[thread hijack] Riven maybe consider disregarding the limit if the posts get medals? I do agree though, if no one else is posting there’s probably a reason. Which sucks cause you’d want the (constructive) feedback.

Well if you/we want “blog” like post. Perhaps write a blog? I assume the blog hosting has only got better.

Do people still do blogs? Are blogs still a thing?

I thought, for example the WIP section is for some kind of “interactive dev blog”. It is titled “Publish your new game’s progress here!”.
In my opinion it is a disadvantage for readers and writers, if a new thread is started for the same game.

I think having it here is a win-win situation: people interested in WIP Java games can browse and developers can be found and get feedback.

What is the reason for the limit, avoid spamming?
Just an idea: the limit could be applied only for some days (and unlocked immediately if another person replies).

It’s not even allowed to have multiple threads for 1 game.

Your options when you run into this ‘harsh/unfair’ limit:

  • You hope somebody posts in your thread
  • You just have to request somebody to post in your thread
  • You amend your last reply
  • You copy the contents of your last post, delete it, add it to a new post, make the post more interesting, add whatever you want.

You can easily play the system, it’s trivial. It’s just meant as a hint that you might have to change your ways somewhat.

That makes sense.

I see, thanks!
