Bit Siege - 2D Competitive Multiplayer PvP Game. (Patch v2.1 out now!)

Thank you For the kind words KudoDEV, I really appreciate it :).

Thank you! That is currently what match making does, but there are no dedicated servers at the moment, so unfortunately until I put some up, players must host their own games.

I had that idea before, and your suggestion just re-inforced my thoughts about it, it will come in the next update:).

I understand you want to walk around the world and “test” the game, the thing is, the game is centered around PvP, and 99% of the game is focused around having other player(s) in the game. The only thing that could come from you you walking around and exploring the world is feedback on what exactly? How the current map looks? Not that I don’t appreciate all feedback, but as of now feedback on those things aren’t so important to me. I understand you want to play alone, but this game is literally the complete opposite of what you’re looking for if you wish to play a game alone.

The reason why you spawn in a locked room is so you can’t get a head start capturing things before enough people even join. In the next version there will be a warmup mode, where you can run around as normal and fight but the game won’t technically start until there are enough players. Once theres enough players, everyone will be taken back to their spawns and the game will start as it does now.

So if you wish to merely just walk around for your own satisfaction, you will be able to in the next version.

For the record, if you want to know, I’ve also never spoken to Kudo one time, actually I didn’t even know he existed until he posted on my thread.

Also KudoDEV, thank you for that compliment as well as the last one, best game on JGO, I’ll just take that as is :P.

I will more than likely release the next version really soon, tomorrow or the next day.

I improved the overall networking by an extreme amount, I cut the amount of data being sent IN HALF. I also have fixed other glitches and made other improvements, which will be posted in the patch notes when the new version goes up.

Thank you for actually considering my feedback! I can’t say I agree with your reasons for not letting me walk around the world, but it is your game and I respect that. Honestly because you were nice in your reply I will keep an eye on your game, and I may play it someday. I was becoming frustrated mostly because I did not understand your reasons, and because KudoDEV seemed to try to fight me after every single post I made.

I am sorry for all these posts, but I am happy that you actually read my feedback. Good luck with the game!

Just posted a patch, check out the download page to view the patch notes!

Thanks to everyone who has been playing and giving feedback :).

Can you also offer it in zip? My school’s computer do not allow users to install programs, so I could not install WinRAR to extract the files.

There are lots of online extractors, this is the first result on Google: http://online.b1.org/online

BurntPizza and opiop65:

I did not think of this. Thanks.

Patch v1.3 is out now!

Patch v1.3 Overview video:
Coming soon.

v1.3 Patch Notes

  • New bases! Each base now has sub crystal rooms, the last map was to hard for the defending team to stop someone from destroying their sub crystal.

  • Each teams “main crystal” has been removed. Instead, a progress bar for each team is now at the bottom of the screen. Team 0’s bar is always on the left, and Team 1’s bar is always on the right.

  • Warmup mode has been added. You’re no longer just trapped in your base waiting for enough players. Once there are enough players, everyones kills and deaths will reset, and all players will be taken back to their spawn point and the game will start.

  • Camera now stays where you died until you respawn.

  • Fixed a game breaking bug where sometimes when an ability was removed, it would crash the game.

  • Fixed the spacebar locking issue once and for all, it no longer happens in any situation at all.

  • Made the X marking the crystal on the map disappear if someone captures the crystal and there is no crystal currently spawned.

I downloaded the game but haven’t played it with another person yet but I have a few notes:

  • I had the same problem with @opiop65 as the window is cut off at the bottom of the screen
  • Maybe remove the Continue button in the update checker and just make it automatic
  • Maybe, instead of having single-player, have a training mode like Team Fortress 2 does (but they are pretty much the same thing)

But other than that, looks like an amazing game and I will give it a try with my brother tomorrow…
I especially like the multiplayer help as many games I know of don’t really include that…

  1. What is your resolution? For everyone that has the game cut off at the bottom, please let me know what your resolution is, as I will make settings in the next patch for resolution.

  2. The auto updater will automatically continue in the next patch.

  3. I will add bots eventually, its just it’ll take time as they all have very very different play styles, so I must make each bot fit its play style.

Anyways thanks for the kind words as well, let me know when you play it fully! Also if you post on the forums you can always setup a game with other people.

I’ve also had random people join my games in which I’ve never seen before, whenever I host one and wait for a friend to join :P.

Thanks again for the feedback!

My screen resolution is: 1366x768

Haven’t had a chance yet as my brother is playing Team Fortress 2 while I’m having certain ‘problems’… cough Yahoo Answers is painful… cough

I may see if he will like to try it now…

Ahh, the game window is 1024x768. I should of made the default 1024x720.

I will add changeable resolutions though.

Also if you want, I am hosting a 1v1.

Just click find 1v1:)

I just tried connecting and got:
‘All playlists empty’

Try again, we all had games going.

Tried all of them… still ‘All playlists empty’

May be my side though… I am having problems with Minecraft multiplayer… it may have something to do with Java in general (before anyone says anything, I have tried turning my fire wall completely off and it still didn’t work, so it isn’t that…)

Make the background art of the game’s site less saturated, it really stands out, when it shouldn’t. We should focus on the content, rather than the background. I haven’t played the game yet, but as soon as i come back home (4 days) i will try it out  Good luck!

The site will be redone eventually, as well as the games graphics. Everything is basically placeholders for now, and the main focus of everything right now is the actual gameplay, which is almost in a spot where I’m ready to start just strictly focusing on overall game art and such.

Anyways, awesome, let me know what you think! I appreciate all feedback

Patch v1.3.1 is out now!

v1.3.1 Patch Notes

  • Added framerate cap, you can edit this in the “bitsiege.properties” file, just open it with any text editor to edit it. (There will be an options menu soon). If you wish to turn the framerate cap off, you can set “capframerate” to “no” from “yes”. If you are unaware of what a framerate cap does, I simply don’t let the FPS go above 60, which in turn makes Bit Siege use way less of your computers CPU resources. Framerate cap is ENABLED by default.

  • You can now press Escape in game to exit the current game and go back to the main menu.

  • Show Stats § is now toggleable.

  • Fixed bug where chat would be extremely zoomed in, making it unreadable whenever the game would end, and in some other cases.

  • Fixed Knights ultimate animation, the effect lasted as normal, but the yellow particle animation continued to play until the player died.

Question:
Why would the fps increase cpu usage? unless its not hardware accelerated.
