BETA: Nanotron for Windows XP/Vista

Nanotron is now in beta testing. Nanotron is a cross between Breakout and Space Invaders, where you kill germs to disinfect the patient’s body. Nanotron has been designed, developed, redesigned, developed again, and is now in beta.

Wow much much MUCH better than what it was the first time you released something for this game. Particularly good improvement in presentation and game smoothness overall. I believe you’re using some type of hardware acceleration, correct? Cause I’m on a computer with a glitchy graphics card and it flickers whenever I play anything hardware accelerated, and the game is flickering (absolutely not your fault at all). Or maybe that’s a result of the latest Java release using more of that stuff.

Suggestion, do you think you could have the higher difficulties do more of a focus on faster ball speed, instead of faster descend speed? (maybe some descend increase too, but mostly speed, a real skill related thing, should be modified; a lot of the bouncing is largely luck, and is hard to control).

I tried impossible and, as name implies, found it quite impossible. But all the same I think it should be somewhat possible, since it is a game mode. Maybe you could do something like have the ceiling descend as well? Would make the ball spend less frustrating time in the area above the enemies. Random idea, not really sure if that would work. Thought I’d throw it out.

I’m glad to hear that someone noticed that the game improved. Positive feedback is always encouraging to hear.

This game uses the hardware acceleration from the newest Java release. I don’t use JOGL or anything, but I made sure that all my images would be hardware accelerated by Java. It’s too bad about your graphics card - I’ve had some bad experiences with hardware, so I now try to buy hardware only from the main hardware manufacturers.

I wil try changing the ball speed in higher difficulties. I hadn’t paid much attention to the higher difficulties, but I suppose I have to take a look at it. It’s pointless to have the higher difficulties if they’re unplayable.

Having the ceiling descend as well is an interesting idea. It would save time having the ball bouncing around, and it would make the game a little more unique. It wouldn’t make a great deal of logical sense, but I won’t let that stop me. Does anyone else have any opinions about this?

This is a great idea!

Thanks nva225 for your comments and feedback…

By the way I’m the guy behind the graphics for this game; In case you were wondering who I was.
