I wrote this silly little game as a Darkstar example for my talks at JavaOne.

Post JavaOne I’ll be open sourcing it for anyone to play around with.

Edit: Ok err, it worked on one of my attempts trying to run the game from my newer machine (running Vista). Although I got the same error message at first? Seem to get consistent errors on older machine (XP Pro).

Confusing error.

Game at least does work after that. It’s a little difficult to control though, and it seems to miss a few events (I’ve had my guy turn into a grave and return from the dead). But grats on getting a working game going =)

Very. It seems like its failed to load the resource out of the jar, but i cant imagine why.

Jeff - Try streaming the ogg rather than loading it all into memory. I got the exact same error with Slick just now, and it went away when I set the streaming flag to true.

First time I’ve tried game started, but there were white rectangles instead of some pictures (of player?) on map.

You must be on an AIT card 8)

I should pronbably put this on the web page: ATI OGL drivers crap out on images at 512xz512. Some of my sprite strips are currently wider then 512, as are my background images.

Post JavaOne I need to reorganize that. Until then expect grief from ATI cards :frowning:
