So, this is an old project that I started one year ago with supaah limited skill. After long time no touch, I was little surprised on how I wrote it ;D

Now I’m willing to submit this into a prototype game compo in my place. I tried on two machines and worked. Now I need tester as many as possible. Criteria if it’s success are:

  1. You can run and play the game (what else?)
  2. On menu screen, you see text in cool font rather arial
  3. sound effects (shoot, explode, beep) played.

I won’t tell you how to play, to see if my inside game manual is good enough. Please post what you feel and any bug.

Once the compo is over, I’ll modify this thread to showcase this.

EDIT: So it appears that I didn’t win. A comp rule was changed so participants can use game engine like UDK, Unity or else, then I was beaten to agony ;D

cannot start jars by double clicking them, so it doesnt work =)

it works here, altough it takes a while to start. a long while, wlike 40 seconds of white screen.

all else work as expected!

  1. yep, but its unclear why game is finished after only rescuing 1 mine
  2. no, it’s quite unreadable
  3. yep, but the mine touching sound does not always stop

-> Start firing until gun impulse put you outside the visible window, let mission finish, restart
-> Player is still invisible

That’s what I can’t rid until now. Gonna find the root of ebil.

  1. You still win even only one mine left.
  2. I need to hire a native english speaker to correct my grammar then.
  3. Touching a falling mine will freeze your ship - charging its shield with ship’s to stop falling, look at yellow bar at top.

Worked fine here! As teletubo said a white screen for 40 seconds or so… The text of the menu have a cool font. The instructions are too long in my opinion xD Oh! and I’ve got a sound effect looping once I reach level 2 o.o don’t know why D:

Thanks! font found on some site, free to use for non-com. Instruction need to fix. About sound loop, it’s very strange because I always call stop before play something.

So my problems till now: 1) Confusing instruction 2) long startup 3) strange sound loop. Need moar JGO tester! ;D

It works properly on OpenSUSE 12.1, the startup took around 5 secs at first run here, next runs take about 3 secs. Sounds and fonts are also good. sweet game !

What I meant was, that the font itself looks a bit too destroyed, not your spelling.

I agree with the others that the font is too “crackly” for its size. You have room to make the items bigger, so you could do that instead of changing the otherwise cool-looking font.

I could only select menu items with arrow keys then space. I expected Enter to also work, and to be able to click on them. The game doesn’t use the mouse, so clicking doesn’t necessarily have to work, but CR should.

Just to be picky, it’s “They came earlier than our intel reported! It should be tomorrow’s war! Nevermind, I’ll shoot them all!” although I think “screw this, I’ll shoot them all” sounds better.

Then “bad story telling” is checked ;D
I 'm thinking to not put story inside game, maybe on another media.
