An open source project. Btw, I’m looking for teammembers. About me you can read at the link above. And not only read…
But to see me!
I got few issues:
- Thats one pretty slow plane.
- Whats up with the bullet limit?
- Whats up with the frames around the helicopters and the plane?
- The game runs at 100% cpu and it froze on me once.
Hmmm…
Terribly difficult to play in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, because Control+Arrow activates Spaces, which moves your windows all over the place. Customizable buttons would be nice.
- huh
- Whats up with the bullet limit?
- Whats up with the frames around the helicopters and the plane? So I’m not the greatest artist. Want to draw some frames for the game like starting point for our cooperation?
- Hmm. You lie about 100%. But I’ll think about it.
Use space to shoot.
Same here. The aircraft movement is slower than the helicopters, which feels wrong, is that a bug? The bullet limit is surprising and annoying, and I’m not sure why you’ve got those black frames around half of the sprites.

I played through all the levels till it started looping, it’s actually surprisingly fun - reminds me of the old game River Raid. Far too slow though, could do with speeding up about x4 and increasing the shot rate to make it more snappy.
Not a bug. I draw as I can. I wanted to separate true objects from background. I’m working at speed koefficients. Look here: http://btrgame.com/stats/by_time.html
Very nice, got potential.
Scrolling very smooth over here. The rectangular grey borders surrounding the planes are a little annoying and sound would be nice.
Keep it up!
Steve
If you agree, your game will be added into the Java™ Game Tome. Your game is fine but I don’t know how to finish the first level, I can’t decrease my speed enough to go after the big horizontal walls. However, there are already a lot of 2D side scrolling shoot em up games… It would be more interesting if you made it in 3D on my view.

Pretty fundamental to change the genre of the game.

Sure! Add the game to the Game Tome.
Btw I always preferred 2D.
Hi m77,
I had fun with it. Thanks for sharing!
The main thing I’d say is that it should be a little faster (the whole thing, not necessarily the airplane… unlike some of the other people who commented, it doesn’t bother me that I’m slower than most of the enemies). It was just that little bit slow that some of the “avoid the walls” sections felt more like waiting than a challenge.
Oh, and I like your unusual decision to make the enemies be immune to multiple repeat shots, the way the player is in most games of this type. Why shouldn’t they be?
Thanks again.

nice improvements, some feedback points
- Movement speed is still a bit too slow and feels sluggish, needs to be a bit more faster
- Enemy Helicopter explosions look a bit too much like bullets and found myself trying to avoid them
- When out of bullets didn’t know where or how to reload, making it a bit more clearer with a message alerting where to reload might help.
- Some of those smaller checkered tiles have a weird optical illusion style fuzziness to them
