Background Geometry

Hi
It’s late an i’m tired, so I’m not sure whats going on :). I thought that geometry and image were the two types of background that worked with xith right now?, I’m trying to load a cube into the background geometry of xith, it’s two sided and textured, and is 1.4 wide deep and high, (from when it was used in java3d and had to fit inside a 1 unit radius sphere), but i can’t see it at all. The loader that loads it works as I can place it in the forground quite happily. I can view it in my ac3d loader and see the inside of it so the two sided flags are workign ok, I just don’t seem to be able to use anything in the background geometry wise, any ideas?
I’m using a version of xith chcked out and built from CVS a few hours ago.

Cheers

Only geometry should be working, image and color background is not working AFAIK. These two types of BG are top priority for me.

Hi,
I have the same problem.
I tryed with a textured box (the same code I used with java3d).
The cube is visible when added to the scenegraph, but disappears when added as background.
I’m using a QuadArray without normals

QuadArray qa = new QuadArray(coords.length, GeometryArray.COORDINATES|GeometryArray.TEXTURE_COORDINATE_2);

can this be relevant?

Booohooo gimmie background color boohooo :’(

Hi
I still can’t get my background geoemtry working, has anyone got this working that can provide a code snippet or demo that I can take a peek at?

Cheers

Hi
Ok, should have tried this earlier, but it seems that background geometry in xith3d isn’t mapped onto a 1 unit sphere expanded to infinity like java3d, so you have to scale any background geometry, and know your clipping distance so you can get it right, unless i’m missing something, but it seems to appear now, not sure yet what happend with other objects as they approach it, ie, do they still only get clipped at back clip distance, or do they disapear once they reach the other side of the geom etc. more investigation required, unless one of the xith team who knows what it really does wants to comment?

Cheers

Endolf, who is liking xith more and more, even with it’s few issues, which are just because it’s new.
