Artist Needed!

Hey Guys,

I’m doing a small sample SGS game for my JavaOne talk. I really need a few pieces of 2D art which I cna legally redistribute. To whit:

(1) Cute little bunny rabbit hopping to the left, to the right, up the screen and down the screen. Turn animations would be a plus. All i need is one hop cycle and I’ll repeat as needed.

(2) Cartoon hunter stalking the same directions.

(3) Static image of a hedge

(4) Static image of a carrot sticking up out of the ground

(5) Static image of a bunny tombstone and a hunter tombstone. (Might be cute to echo the bunny ears on the bunny tombstone and a hunter cap or something on the hunter tombstone, but I leave the details to the artist.)

Rewards are fame and acknowledgment in the JavaOne materials, and up to about $50.00 cash (what I can afford to throw at this out of my own pocket.)

Any takers?

Animations at how many frames-per-second? (or: frame-interval)

Hm. Interesting question. To a certain degree Im willing to leave that up to the artists judgement. If i had to put a finger in the air I’d say 15 fps and I can always display an image for multiple ticks.

Im figuring about half a second to move from the center of one square to the center of the next but that will be multiple “hops” and I can tweak anim speed up or down to meet the exact timing.

The client itself I expect will be running at monitor refresh rate.

Does that help any?

I should add that the anim frame-rate doesn’t have to be regular.

if the animation comes with a duration per frame or start time per frame thats fine.

Again whatever is easiest for the artist

I may have found my artist… I’ll know tomorrow.

Thanks

JK

Got my artist.

The kind folks at Mind Control Software are doing it for me,

Which ofcourse means I should plug them at every opportunity so pardon my psuedo-spam

Mind Control Software: You will like their games!

Keep us posted on your demo

very early shot up on Kev’s Slick boards…

I’m really digging Slick. For coding a simple game like I’m doing, so far its proving to be a BIG time saver.
