ARBInvalidateSubdata for Minecraft/SLI

I’ve been trying to use nVidia SLI settings in minecraft so I can run high-quality shaders without performance loss. I can force SLI on java which I thought would really help, but it has more than halved my performance from just one of my GPUs.

ARBInvalidateSubdata sounds really handy to have working on something like this. Can anyone explain how to use it though? or is it even still viable being from 2 years ago?
