applet record from microphone

is it possible to record from the microphone in applet-code?
…recording in applets is disabled in the “java media framework” and also in “java sound”…

I haven’t tried OpenAL’s recording functionality but apparently OpenAL 1.1 supports audio capture. A Google search for “openal recording” turned up this link. JOAL supports OpenAL 1.1 so hopefully this should work. Please try it and post if you run into any problems.
