ApoMono

Hi,

ApoMono started as a Java 4k game and is based on the game F.O.L.D. by cosine.

It is a puzzle game where you have to pick up blocks and fold the screen. I love that gameplay and want to port it to android and add more levels and tiles to have more and longer fun with the game. So … now I do it. =)

Trailer: Watch the trailer

Androidversion: Download in the playstore

Desktopversion: Download

At the moment it looks like this

Keep the greenish gameboy look, please!!! It is just too adorable. Brings back some memories of my childhood.

Seems to be an interesting idea for a game. Would like to see more.

Green, and maybe a pixel gap between each ‘pixel’ too to make it true gameboy style

The idea with the “extra pixel” ist great. But the gameresolution is too small. I have to choose a higher resolution to get the "gameboy"look.
At the moment I will add more levels and features in the game and will try to implement that gameboypixelfeature later. =)

Today I implemented another “folding mode”.
Now you can fold the level vertically and horizontally.

Click on the image to start an animation. In the gif you can see how the game works and how to solve a level with both folding modes. =)

Next step:

  • gravity change feature like in vvvvv
  • levels levels levels

Now I added the gravity feature.

The game grows … =)

Today I made some levels. At the moment I have 60 levels … so 40 levels are still missing.

I made all the levels with my editor.

Seems awesome keep it up! ;D

Big thanks for the motivating words.

Today I added some more levels and some new “optional” features like the speechbubble when you don’t move or reach the finish.

Tomorrow I will try to port it to my android phone and make more levels. =)

Today I implemented an one step back button because in the hard levels it was frustrating to make a mistake at the end and you had to solve the whole level again. Now press the undo button. It is a little but VERY nice feature. =)

I also added more levels. Target 100 levels … I am coming. =)

Are you working 24/7 on it? o_o

I mean… I surely would. ;D

No, not 24/7 but I work hard in my free time. =)

Today I ported it to android and tested it with the Nexus 7 and Samsung S3 and it runs fine. =)

But it would be great if I can find other beta testers. So if you want to test the game on your android smartphone please write me a message. Big thanks.

Now the android version has a levelchooser and I removed some bugs and i added some more levels.

Now I am searching for good music … do you have a good idea where I can get nice 8/16 bit music with a nice licence?

You can always make your own simple tune. I’ve used FamiTracker before, but if you want to stay true to the gameboy, this list has some:http://www.nullsleep.com/utilities.php

Bis thanks for the links.
It isn’t to easy to make a sound file that fit perfect in the game but I will my best. =)

Today I added a new tile: the portal.

Now you can beam you between two portals or you beam a block to another place.
That is fun. =)
The game is growing and growing.

Today I added more hard levels, because some folks think the game was too easy. =)

Today I added a new tile.

The one step tile. After running over it, it will explode.

Now there is a new tile and feature stop. I will only add more levels and some music and then the game is ready.
But if you want to test the game, download it or ask me if you want the android beta version.

So I completed the ui (I changed some positions and sizes for the buttons).

Next step music. It isn’t easy to find the right music or make my own music.

And then is the game ready. =)

Thanks to Eric Skiff. His music fits perfectly into the game.
And I made some sound effects with sfxr. Great little tool.

I added some ads in the android version (but only in the menu, not ingame).

Theoretically I can publish it now to the android store or I make some more levels.
Do you think: 80 levels are enough?

80 levels is more than enough! That would keep me occupied for a few days! Very excited to see this on the android store. You could always make more levels and sell them in small packs on the android store, you could probably get a few bucks.
