Anyone try GameTap?

I have been using the service for a month now and I have to say, it totally kicks ass! GameTap is a new service released by Turner Broadcasting that allows you to play a ton of games released for a variety of systems, arcade and consoles all through a really slick interface. As well, new programming done my the Adult Swim team is available through the Mediaplex section of the interface. The service costs $14.95 per month and it is a blast!

I know the guy who is the lead on the emulators and asked why it was not done in Java

Check it out at http://www.gametap.com

Gagaplay.com is free and both platform- and nationality independant

and what was his answer ?

Lilian

He said, “Well, so much stuff was already written for Windows platform and porting would have taken too long vs. their launch date.” However, he stated that it was a good suggestion and one that they should consider moving forward. If the service grows, it could be the right cross platform solution for them.

Yes, tis true. However, until you start producing Space Ghost episodes and get a good port of Grandia II on Gagaplay.com, I will still have continue using both “services”

Wow they have Gun Fight!
That game was very cool at the time. Many quarters gave their lives.

You like Gun Fight so much?
My emulator already supports it (it runs on Space Invaders hardware), so maybe I’ll have to upload that game too

Well, they have SG and Grandia II, I have Ms.Pacman, Street Fighter II and online high scores
Gametap looks brilliant though, too bad they don’t want non-americans in there for whatever reason…

That would be cool
I didnt see a page that has all the games listed. Do you only see that list after you DL the emulator?
You should probably have a list on the web site.

Its not that I love it, I just have fond feelings  at the time you could only play Pong and the Hockey variants and a bowling game. So GunFight was a cool new game style. It was probably the very first shooter game.

There’s a list at the “About JEmu2” page (http://www.gagaplay.com/jemu2/about.html). It’s a bit out of date though, not all games are there yet.

Well, it’s only in US at the moment and is in a “soft launch” I don’t think they have started their big push. As for the games…well, the GameTap ones are licensed
