2023?
We haven’t even landed people on Mars yet…let alone have people live on it. All that in 11 years?
Unlikely.
Either a scam or some a really optimistic R&D department.
I hope people realize that a human would die just standing on the mars surface for too long.
Because of the radiation, every manned mars mission, especially the first one, is a race against time to dig yourself into the ground before you die.
That is if you survive the months in space…
Just imagine, they have to train, like 8 hours a day or whatever, in space, just so that they are not loosing too much muscle and bone, so that they will not SHATTER when they come in contact with gravity again.
They really really have to use a revolving spaceship which fixes the gravity issue…
I actually don’t think anyone will be living out the rest of their potential lifetime, on Mars. At least not in 2022 that is.
I still hope they try, though. It shall be spectacular!
Also, in regards to radiation and such they seem to have that figured out. Their FAQ is quite elaborate, for a scam.
I don’t think this is a scam. I don’t believe anyone would put so much money in such a website, would interview people, make these animations, just to troll other people.
And if that is not a scam, I think they kind of know, what they do. There would be too much people (scientists) against them.
Personally, I find this project really intresting. I mean… living on the Mars is like the dream of flying in the history of the human. But I would never sign up for such a project. I really love my life here on Earth, even if on the Mars there are the most intresting things to see in the whole universe, I would not go there, because of the missing social contacts, and the overall hard life. (And I would not have time to program!!! :O)
How would they figure out things like medicine? The people that are to live the rest of their lives on another planet can’t be without medicine, right?
They “plan” to send a huge batch of supplies before any humans arrive there. Also, they “plan” to send 40 people there. If someone gets some medical problems, you can always send some medicine (and maybe one of those med-pods they have in Prometheus )
I have a feeling that 4 people on a separate planet for 2 years before the next group arrives will take it’s toll on the astronauts. It must be really, really lonely to be alone on Mars with only 3 other people that you hardly knew before to socialize with.
I think the idea is that they train together for 10 years before they go. They will know eachother very well.
It’s still very lonely though… Unless you bring a console
