Another Xith game - survivor

Main post is over in the “Your Games Here” category, but I thought people here might be interested to know it’s all done in Xith3D (on JOGL).

After the Sun competition, we’d like to switch to LWJGL to get things like fullscreen support that JOGL doesn’t have. Depends what the state of Xith-on-LWJGL is when we get to that point :).

:).

Personally, I’d say it’s unlikely whilst we are still actively developing the game. I’d also guess that it’s pretty likely we would decide to OS it if we stopped actively developing it. But those are just guesses - I cannot speak for the others thoughts and opinions.

And I’m anti-open-source by default (although I do run a project on sourceforge.net, so it’s not like I won’t open-source stuff; just my default assumption is that I won’t). Deciding to OS something is a major decision, one which only the rich, the idle, and those who don’t care about the future of their project can make flippantly. If we were to do it, it would only be after very serious consideration and examining it from all sides.

I’m idle and careless but sadly not rich. So I open source everything and what happens? I get pestered constantly by people asking me how it works. Sheesh!

What Kev meant is that his code that uses Xith was awful, and he’d rather not have it exposed to public scrutiny, because it doesn’t do him justice ;).

Likewise, in the interests of speed at the cost of quality I have the odd shocking piece of code in survivor - although we did javadoc almost all classes, methods and variables, which was pretty good considering time constraints.
