Another ODE binding - Fuze3D

Hi All,

I promised a while back to release my binding for ODE. It is now available at www.shortfuze.co.uk/template/Fuze3D,Releases.vm.

Please be patient with our little server - it should be on higher bandwidth soon!

Sorry for the delay but it’s been a very busy autumn getting work in for our company.

I know there is another ode project on dev.java.net now but hopefully this will lead to some cross-fertilisation. My binding is for 0.039 and includes support for Trimesh - see the vehicle on terrain test.

ODE is just one part of Fuze3D - our aim is to pull together a whole load of components into a rationalised platform for games. The scenegraph and physics is just one part of this. I’m hoping to release more useful stuff soon.

This is really interesting project, especially because of ODE bindings. I will get back to this after I get Odejava 0.2 released, I’ve given preliminary 0.2 alpha for couple users already.

It would be rational to consider merging these two projects if possible, in other words drop Odejava or Fuze3D’s ODE bindings in the future. No need to discover wheel twice. Most probably there are issues that prevent this but I’d like to consider this in any way.

How is the ODE bindings integrated into Fuze3D, can it be changed into Odejava or can the rendered side (currently Openmind) be changed into other scenegraph libraries easily, like Xith3D or jME? Odejava has no relations to any other libraries (like Openmind or Xith3D).

0.2 version has helper class for adding Odejava objects automatically into Xith3D scene. This can be attached into ASE reader quite easily. These classes are non integral part of Odejava just to keep Odejava as independant as possible.

By the way, make sure you mail your project information to Alban Cousinié. I am sure Openmind head developer is interested of Fuze3D!
