I have tried using animated GIF’s on my large drawing area (JPanel containing a large image showing a map of europe). It works fine until until it conflicts with my Popup JDialogs I am using. So, I wanna stop all animated GIF’s before showing any Dialogs. How? Is there perhaps a better way of showing animations that do not get this problem?
I tried animated gifs once, and it appears to be impossible to control the redrawing rate and so on. Or maybe there is a way, but in any case you have more control of what’s going on if you use lists of (Buffered)Images to represent the frames. So that’s what I do.
I just want to be able to stop them before I put my JDialog on screen because it conflicts with the animated GIF’s. I seen Applets where animated GIF’s are stopped when u click some button or move mouse pointer outside applet so I figure there must be some way for the start/stop control at leist.
