Play as Gunnvor as you help him on his quest. Dodge rocks, fend off a fire breathing dragon and at all costs protect the poor sheep!
Be careful though, for some reason these sheep are fatter and heavier than usual, even poor Gunnvor struggles to lift them.
Don’t be scared to sacrifice a sheep in order to save your own life, just beware of the consequences…

Run, dive and jump to stay alive
Use your arsenal of moves to dodge the dangers, I suggest jumping when there is NOT a rock above you.

Pickup sheep to gain a point boost
Double your score increment by picking up and carrying a sheep, he might be a little fat and heavy but he is nice a fluffy.
(Disclaimer : Fluffy sheep do not absorb the impact of rocks, it still very much hurts)

Throw the sheep when you are sick of it!
Sheep getting in the way? Or sick of him mocking you?
Throw him away, throwing him off screen awards you 5 points and keeps the Guardian Of The Sheep happy.

Fend off a fire breathing dragon
It is advised to not feed the dragon, can try if you want but he prefers to spit fireballs at your face.

Piss off the “Guardian Of The Sheep
Little is known about the Guardian Of The Sheep, legends state that he is 15 feet
tall and that he has over 30 pet sheep. Probably a loner.

Be the best
Show everyone just how much you love sheep, keep a track record of your personal scores
, upload them to a global leaderboard or share them with your friends.

It’s times like these where I wished that I had an Android device…

All of the artwork here is beautiful! The only think I noticed is that there is some aliasing around the edges. If this was fixed, then I think there would be a lot smoother transition from the UI to the backgrounds.

Other than that, this game looks very good!

You could look into BlueStacks. I dunno how great of a program it is, but it seems like it would do well. :slight_smile:

I’m not sure that would help me. From the limited information on their website, it seems like it would only allow me to play games on my computer from my phone, which wouldn’t be able to run the game in the first place because it’s not Android.

Worry not, we can certainly look into providing a browser version in the future!

This is caused due to scaling, as I am scaling down. I have not configured any texture filters yet so it will improve before release.

EDIT: Ignore me, the menu sprites are actually scaled perfectly to the virtual viewport, it is just that I happen to have taken those screen shots from a small desktop window, causing them to scale down even further.

Looks crisp on phones.

Viking Dodge is now 2 days away from release (It was pushed to the 10th for undisclosed reasons), help us get the word out by following us on Twitter and Facebook, use the #VikingDodge to get it trending!

On the content side of the game I have been doing 12 hour coding sessions for the past week in order to get all this rolling out in a nice and timely manner, last night I implemented Gunnvor’s new animation for when he is unlucky enough to be smacked by a Fireball.

I have also added the game over panel, although it is not final as I want to move all the HUD elements out of the screen as it appears.

Last but not least, every single menu animates now. So when you click play, everything moves off screen and the background slides up to reveal the game screen. Same for going back to the main menu from pause or game over popup, the background will drop down and hide the screen. It all looks very pwetty :smiley:

Update

Viking Dodge is on the store and ready to go, just to play the waiting game! Unfortunately I finished the game last night but simultaneously passed out at the desk (according to my missus). I did however find a whole bunch of bugs that are kind of funny.

Probably the best one is if you happen to jump onto top of a rock, instantly roll…you do a weird double jump before dieing horribly to the rock that is no where near you. Great! I fixed it though :smiley:

Anyways, I will update the OP as soon as it goes live!

Viking Dodge is now live! Gibs will fill everyone in on the original post when he’s around :slight_smile: in the mean time, go play and leave him a long list of any bugs you found!

UPDATE

Correct, Viking Dodge has now been released. However, I advise anyone wanting to give it a try to wait until the new version has uploaded (I will post here when). It turns out, coding at 0100 and staying awake for 18 hours really messes with your ability to detect obvious crashes, like when you press a button for instance…

Anyway, in the mean time the OP will be updated to reflect this. I do have some new content to share however!

So I thought Gunnvor could do with a little “personality”, so I added randomized and event based speech bubbles.
