[ANDROID][LIBGDX]Crab Crusher

Hello everybody,
I have always wanted to become a member on Java-Gaming, but decided to wait until I finished my first (good) game.
So I am here to present you Crab Crusher!

Description:
As you might have guessed its your job to punch as many crabs as possible, but don’t let too many escape or its game over!
You do have to watch out for the dreaded cactus crabs, they hurt a lot!

Lool, very cool one!
Would be better with leaderboards and more action (more crab appear rate, special crabs to hit etc…)

This is a pretty cute little game. Really polished and fun art.

But you’ve pretty much seen the whole game after just a couple minutes, so you might want to try adding a little variety- maybe different kinds of attacks, different kinds of enemies, power ups, etc. (the current attack is probably pretty overpowered, imho)

I could see this becoming pretty addicting if it had more of a level-up mechanic, where you had to purchase power-ups using “Crab Coins” or whatever (that you get from smashing crabs, of course).

Well, my goal here was to make things as simple as possible. So I could experience the complete package of game development, and not just creating something and slapping a half finished product online. Of course I want to create more complex games but I am keeping this game as is.

Hey that’s cool, just trying to offer some feedback…

This game has the potential to explode on the market. Don’t leave it how it is. Keep the original and expand on it.

It looks nice, it’s simple. Keep out this way but here are some things you can do to improve it.

  • Crabs need an animation, like zoidberg
  • Integration of Facebook or Twitter for sharing highscores will pretty much sell the game for you (a hassle but worth it, do this last)
  • Add some seagulls or something in the sky for the background, will look even more polished.
  • After hitting retry, display a “Tap to start” dialogue again similar to the start to play whether the app is first launched

Do it. See how it goes, you will also learn some new things as well.

Offtopic: Twitter and Facebook integration is ultimately the demise of Twitter and Facebook: too much nonsense and plugging, causing an exodus as we speak.

Ontopic: good for you, sllide, for not giving in to feature creap, wrapping this up, taking on the next project.

I could not care for the state of Facebook or Twitter, as I don’t use them for personal use. If it can promote a product, I don’t care of the effect it has.

However, the API’s for both are utterly horrid (at least I thought so anyway).

Implementing a facebook share function was on my list of functions from the start actually, But since I was so eager to release this game I decided to do that in an update and kind of forgot about it. Its still on my todo list though.

And I need to remove tappx from it, that was a mistake.

After that I will start a new small story driven game where you have to make money by building a swimming pool in your backyard.
Cant wait to see how that turns out.
