All read

I just starting using JOGL. When running demos and my programs on a fairly recent laptop, everything is displayed
in red or only red is displayed. For example the Gears demo. The only color is red.

Laptop is running Windows XP, and has a Nvidia GeForce4 440 Go graphics card.

Any suggestion/explanation?

Thanks…

I don’t mean to be overly anal about the forums, but “All read” is not a good header for your post.

On inital viewing, I would think this was a post from the forum moderators with urgent news…

Don’t know waht to tell ya on the red display, driver update maybe?

Isn’t this related to the GLCapabilitiesChooser problem where the DefaultGLCapabilitiesChooser chooses an crap mode on low end graphics cards. I only mention it because when the crap mode is chosen most often all your get is red polys.

There was some talk of changing how this worked to use the same algorithm as in some GLU function or other.

PS. Incidently, the post tile makes perfect sense if you accept the language barrier and read it phonetically (sp?). All read = Add red, as in all red polygons. Stupid english language.

I think it might have been a typo, All read instead of All red, it’s easy to do

but I agree with kev, it sounds like the old capabilities chooser funness.

Edit: corrected typo

I have here one of the computers with exactly the same hardware config - Toshiba Satellite S5100-503 with GeForece 440 Go, WinXP Home, and everything is working just fine.

Can you please describe the hardware and driver version in more details?

Also I know that there is some unofficial version of drivers for 440 Go, but I was not able to install them [maybe thanks God! - who knows…]

Yuri

Thanks for the suggestions.

After uninstalling the drivers and then updating, I got the rest of the colors show up.

I guess you got to follow the instructions.
