Air Attack - on Android!

Hi There,

Posted about Air Attack a while back:

http://www.java-gaming.org/index.php?topic=19564.0

It has now been ported to Android! You can find it under Games -> Arcade & Action. Both in paid and unpaid. Any feedback is very welcome. Unfortunately we don’t have access to paid apps in Denmark so I haven’t been able to try the paid version from the market. So if anyone tries that one I would be very happy to hear if there were issues with it.

The free version has had more than 1500 downloads in less than 48 hours and gotten 4 out of 5 stars over 32 reviews. I am very happy about that. Paid version was just published now.

Any critique is very welcome.

Hi!

Please give me directly the URL of the apk file and I give it a try, I own a mobile phone HTC Dream with Android 1.1.

Looked for it in Arcade & Action. Not there. Did a search for it. Still not there???

Did you restrict its location to only the United States? (I’m in Australia)

I can see it in Cyrket: http://www.cyrket.com/package/dk.logisoft.airattack

Ranger: No I gave no restrictions to any of the versions… Maybe google took some time publishing it but since it is on Cyrket I don’t get it… 77 people bought it already so it must be available. Try and check again?

gouessej: Would love to! Do you know the full URL? The APKs are called “.AirAttackActivity.apk” and “airattackpaid.apk”. Please let me know the full URL if you find it!

Just looked again. Still not there. I’ve heard the Google Market can be a bit flakey (I read that the Shazam app keeps disappearing for some users). Will try again in a few days.

How did you publish a Paid App if you can’t access Paid Apps? Do you have a US / UK address and bank account?

EDIT: Just thought why I probably don’t see it. I still haven’t got the 1.5 Cupcake upgrade (Aussie telcos are laaaazy!). Is your game 1.5 only?

Yes that is probably it! It only runs on 1.5. I will discuss with my friend who helped me if we can target lower versions.

Yes I plan on cashing out via some friends in the US or GB. Actually it is not a problem to set an app for sale - you don’t need to type in bank account info before you cash out.

I wouldn’t worry about targeting lower versions too much. Most people are on 1.5 now (just not Aussies with the G1).

Interesting… But then your friends will be liable for the income tax? Unless you just let Google hold onto the money, but Google might not want to do this. I’ll be interested to hear how this goes.

ncie to know you managed to make money wiht this like you had planned to a few months ago ;).

Hehe well it is only pennies still - but yes: Just that someone actually likes my work enough to pay something for it is an important milestone for me.

Yes my friends would pay the tax I guess… maybe google will have merchantry enabled in denmark when (if ever) some real money piles up. So maybe I can cash out here when that happens.

taht is where it all starts

Orange is lazy too, I have still Android 1.1 :frowning:

Just released a new version that is compatible with Android 1.1!! Also changed the price from 3 to 1 USD - thrilled to see if that will accelerate sales numbers.

Happy to receive any feedback. Again we don’t have paid apps in DK so if anyone buys the paid version I would be very happy to just receive confirmation that it works.

Cheers,

Martin

Just downloaded the lite version. Played it twice. Hung both times.

HTC G1. Android 1.1

First time, I shot about 3 planes, then it hung. Second time I shot about 20 before hanging.

It didn’t totally crash, as pressing the menu button still brought up the menu, but nothing else worked.

Cool, man! I don’t have Android but it’s great to see Java developers making a few bucks, and I remember Air Attack.

Thanks for the info Ranger. This might be caused by sound issues in Android 1.1. If you don’t mind I would love to hear if it works better if you turn off the sound in the game?

Yep. Without sound it works great. Got to wave 8, destroying 46 planes.

hehe, that was fun to play

Alrighty, uploaded a new version where sound is disabled on Android 1.1. Ranger: Does it work for you?

Cheers, M

Well, it now says “Sound not available for Android 1.1 due to platform bugs”… platform bugs? My game has sound and runs fine on Android 1.1. Anyway, that’s cool, Australia is finally getting the upgrade to 1.5 rolling out now. Cool game BTW!

Hahaha well not sure about the details of the problem as my friend Alex did that part  But glad that it works for you and that you get 1.5 soon
