I’m in the process of building a mobile game, Legends of Yore. It’s developed to run on Android and iPhone - for which I charge after a fixed period of play. I’m trying to find interesting and productive way of getting the word out about the game and trying to stimulate some more downloads and hopefully sales.
What have I tried:
1) Web Version - there’s a free web version to play which I try to tout out as much as possible. I see it more as an advertising thing as I don’t see much money in casual small web games.
2) Word of mouth / twitter / facebook (it’s now playable on facebook aswell)
3) Admob adverts
4) Contact games review sites myself
1 and 2 have worked out ok - though I don’t think they have a high return. Though given they are both basically free it’s not too bad
3 was just expensive and seemed to have no effect what so ever.
4 has had varied results, though mostly no reply at all.
I’m considering:
A) Paying for the press release service that pushes your press release to lots of interested parties (quite expensive, but well worth it)
B) Getting some Google adwords.
C) Creating a flash version and approaching the portals - though I’m worried this will simply make another free web game and won’t stimulate any mobile sales at all.
I’d be interested in hearing any other ideas or experiences other people have had.
Cheers,
Kev
