About SDN

Dear friends,

I’am not sure if this is the right section for this post.

But please clear these doubts.

  1. What does it cost for the go-to-market service ?

  2. I have completed a mobile game and a desktop image viewer application using java. The latter I like to distribute free. Does free apps have a place in the java.com site.

  3. Do individual developers be able to display their apps(may be free) at java.com at zero cost. Or is that , only certified apps (using a fee) will be displayed at java.com

Best Regards
Jack ( :D)

Free apps can live at java.net (not com) for free. No cost, hosted CVS, file sharing etc…

Apps your going to sell, I don’t think you have any license issues from using java, especially in the mobile market.

However, getting them hosted at sun might not be too difficult since they’re looking for good games to show off the platform…

Well kev, thanks for the reply. Does java.net provide

facilities like other midlet sites say midlet.org. If I mail
my midlet to java.net does it get listed so that mobile
users can download it to their phones . If yes, does this
feature exist for desktop apps too.

May God bless you
Jack

I don’t think java.net has any real special support for midlets right at the moment. However, its a community site… you could always suggest it. I know SUN are keen on getting more and more midlet style games out there, they may well be very open to the input.

Kev

As I understand it java.net is a developer community. Therefore i don’t think it supplies the services you are looking for, if you’re not targeting the java developer community as your userbase that is

Yes… it seems java.COM is the site focused on end users. That’s where the software should be listed for download.

java.com is for MIDP2.0 games it does require you to go through JavaUnified testing for $400 but its a one time fee rather than what exists in MIDP1.0 with you having to pay $400 per handset series per vendor…
