This look spretty awesome.
seen this one some days ago, not yet perfect but very impressive
EDIT : also 3Dsom do it very well from a cupple of photographie using a reference paper
Damn that’s impressive - I wonder how they avoid confusion caused by the fingers, and how does it know what in the scene it should be scanning!
I would have thought it’d be easier to accomplish with stereo vision using 2 web cams.
dont know about the fingers but I think that they detect background by scanning for unchanged or very low change on pixels to know what should be scanned.
Very cool. Hope to see a Java library in the future 8)
What if I wanted to scan my hand :
Cas
There’s an initial frame without anything.
Then a frame with just the target added - in which features are noted.
Then each frame is about tracking features as they move - the hand doesn’t effect it because the features don’t track across it.
If you wanted to scan your hand you’d put it in at the second frame.
The other way would be to ignore features that don’t track from frame to frame but I’d imagine that would be more error prone.

this is pretty awesome, so items in 3d games will become even more awesome!
P.S: yes I know that it would be extremely demanding… just dreaming here
