3D Model Artist needed for medieval MMORPG

Please see the website for info about the game
http://insertnamehere.servegame.com

We need many medieval 3D models, including people/creatures, armor, weapons, clothing, landforms, furniture, buildings, etc. We have no models but plenty of coding, and we need our graphics to catch up so that we can be done by the end of December (or later - the dates can be negotiated).

You must be able to make low-polygon models and have knowledge of 3D concepts such as lighting and animation.

In return for good, hard work, you will be deemed (limited) admin, capable of editing your account(s) any way you like, adding items, levels, etc. but not disabling other players or making their experience less enjoyable (mass killing sprees, banning for no reason, etc. is not allowed).

Website doesnt say much. Any screenshots or anything of this game?

What technologies are you using?

Being complete by December 2004 sounds pretty ambitous, how long has this game been in development?

I think you may want to show off a bit more of your game before you will draw any artists/modelers.

That aside, I like the purple border on the “demo website”.

This whole thing is really reminicent of JeffK. l337x0r!!!

What is it that could possible make you think a modeler can be found around this forum? Just curious…

It’s standard to get paid for this kind of stuff. At the very least you would expect to get a royalty on game revenue if you’re going to contribute substantially…

If you would like to contribute work for free, I humbly suggest that http://www.worldforge.org would be a much better recipient. They have been writing their MMOG(s) since 1996, and are the primary open-source/free MMOG group. Although they may have more artists than they need right now…

Anyway, this post should probably be in “volunteer jobs” instead of general discussions?

SpuTTer:
No screenshots because we have no graphics…

Java - applet form.

About 2 months, most of it has been idea forming. December 2004 is simply a date that we set. Everything is negotiable at this point.

Not sure… We’re looking in every nook and cranny to try to find a modeler and yet none have come yet.

blahblahblahh:
Yes, the royalty will be in game form. The artist(s)/modeler(s) will be able to have many in-game abilities that are admin-like, but of course nothing that will harm other users’ game experiences. We may also come up with other payments before the game is released.

This is a programming forum, created and run by a programming company, themed around a programming language ;D.

It might be a good idea to try posting on artists forums, themed around artist tools (or game-modelling) instead…

Have a look on gamedev.net’s help-wanted forum for examples of others recruiting. Most MMOG and RPG projects seem to post screenshots of glorious sunsets or the view from a misty mountain or a mass battle scene etc in a bid to attract modellers. You may need to come up with something equally impressive.
