Are there any good higher level wrappers for lwjgl/openGL?
If you’ve been programming since 1964 I would be surprised you didn’t write any yourself. :-\
Jokes aside, I think jMonkeyEngine is what most people like to use for high-level stuff.

I use JogAmp’s Ardor3D Continuation, the creator of jPCT is somewhere on this forum, some developers use LibGDX, a few developers still use Java3D. I confirm that JMonkeyEngine has a large community.
