I tracked Jeff down the other day. He said something to the effect of some of his statements on these boards weren’t helping his job security. He also said he thought his current situation was temporary and that he’d be able to frequent these boards again. I didn’t pry for more information but I did suggest he at least post a status update when he gets 15 free minutes and he said he would forumulate a message that wouldn’t get him in trouble.
Anyway, thats all I know. I hope this message doens’t get him in trouble, I always looked up to his posts and he seems like a nice guy.
Only nice people are allowed to be here anyway
As one of the recently joined members-- one of those bringing us toward the 1000 members mark-- I’d like to thank Chris and Jeff for their support of the Java gaming community.
As an aside for those of you who look at JGO as a Sun Microsystems Inc. (SMI) project-- look again. The domain registration belongs to Chris, not SMI; and the hosting is from EarthLink; again, not SMI.
Our little community is not something for which our friends get much support from the parent company.
It’s something they do because they are committed to the power of Java as a platform for entertainment software, and they want to promote that committment within the games development community at large.
For the moment, I’m thankful that they are still at SMI, and they are working within SMI and with us to move the technology in the directions we need.
So again, I’d like to say-- thanks, Chris, and thanks Jeff (raises metaphorical cup, and drinks).

So does the 1000th member get a prize, like a slap with a wet noodle or a hacked speak-n-spell?
And the 1000th member is… bobdole!
Congratulations!
And congratulations to all of us who’ve contributed over the last four months!
Let’s keep that momentum going, folks and remember–
Java Games Rock!

Greetings Citizens! I’m Chris!
Well, well, well…
I just wanted to take a min. and say thank you to all of you that keep this forum alive and kicking
Yess, It’s true that Jeff has been away from a while (and me as well, for that matter). Jeff and I had dinner last week and discussed the future of game development in Java. We both feel it is pretty bright and we remain personally committed to Java being an important technology for the games industry.
The site has not progressed as quickly as I would have liked and my other job responsibilities have kept me from focusing on this site for the past 4 months or so. I am committed to continuing building this resource out and hope you will all “keep the faith”. I am looking for anyone who would like to participate in the further develpment of this site to contact me at: chris at javagaming dot org.
To all of the members here, we appreciate all of the well wishes and support. Remember, it is due to your participation that this site has become a valuable asset for the games community. Thanks!
Sincerely,
Chris Melissinos
