Have you tightened up the checkpoint detection? I can’t even touch the grass now without a warning. 
I like it too.
Btw, now testing on my other computer, win xp jdk 6. It works just as good as on the mac.
Only complaint is that my fingers hurts. 
Yea. I was looking at doing F1 cars. Then I realised my way of detecting checkpoints wouldn’t work with them (as I just checked each frame if the car was on a checkpoint - however, an F1 car could skip over a checkpoint in a single frame as it goes so fast). So now I do line detection based on previous position and the center of the car. Problem is, it doesn’t take into account the width of the car, so I made the check points on the track a little wider to compensate, but obviously not wide enough! 
Just updated the track again to allow you to cut the cut the corner like you could originally.
Just did another update. Changes are:
- Now only 4 levels per track. Key 4000 to jump to the last level with all the fast times.
- Fixed timing to be more accurate on finish line. Had messed up the calc of how far across the finish line you are when it detected you had crossed the finish line.
- Now shows your position under your car.
- Added P for pause.

I had noticed that the time displayed at the finish didn’t quite correspond to the recorded time. I never mentioned it, but hopefully it’s fixed.
It looks like some people haven’t played the other tracks. Perhaps you need to put some instructions onscreen?
I like the subtleties of this game. Like how you have to change the timing of your cornering to account for tyre wear.
Yep. Should be fixed now. Also found another bug where the server was still deleting old times on the top level! Woops! :o Sorry, I think the absolute best times were not deleted. Fixed the bug now.
Good idea! I just did a menu system. Will put onscreen instructions to say press Esc for menu.

…oh, and I added sound. But it’s totally lame. I’ve asked for help in another thread http://www.java-gaming.org/forums/index.php?topic=17981.0. Hopefully someone will know how to do sound properly.
Yep, there are some missing, but at least it looks like the top 2 times are there.
It does sound like a swarm of crazed mosquitos ;D , but it’s a good start. I’m afraid I can’t help, Java sound has always been a mystery to me.

You can now pick slower, and faster ;D cars.
There is also a new pit system which should keep the game play flowing a bit better. 8)
Also, the replay cars now show skid marks, break lights, accelerate smoke, and when they’re fixing their cars.
Because of the new pit system, I had to erase the top times…SORRY ANDY! :’( You were definitely the winner in the last version! 8)
The game is getting a little complex now, so please let me know of any bugs. And, as always, all comments are much appreciated.

Hmm, the link should still work. Just checked it, and it works ok for me? Maybe my ISP is having a bad day. :-\ …BTW: I’m working on a track editor and a cut down version for the Java4K comp. ;D
