Sorry for the continued problems. I have removed the fullscreen code until I’ve sorted it out, don’t want to blow up anybodies screen
Princec: yeah LWJGL is starting to feel like the way to go.
blahblahblahh: As for Homer, it’s a reference to episode [3F05] King- Size Homer
[quote]Homer reads the computer screen.
Homer: [reading screen] “To Start Press Any Key”. Where’s the ANY key?
I see Esk [“ESC”], Catarl [“CTRL”], and Pig-Up [“PGUP”]. There
doesn’t seem to be any ANY key. Woo! All this computer hacking
is making me thirsty. I think I’ll order a TAB. [presses TAB key] Awp…no time for that now, the computer’s starting.
[reading screen slowly] “Check core temperature, yes slash no.”
[types] Yes.
“Core temperature normal.” Hmph. Not too shabby.
“Vent radioactive gas.” [types] NO.
“Venting prevents explosi-on.” Heeheee…whoa, this is hard.
Where’s my Tab? Okay, then, [types] YES, vent the stupid gas.
[Cut to a farmer tending his corn. The gas release blows away
part of the crop.]

WTF have you done to my desktop? :o I’ve never seen a webstart game do that before.
Remains like that then gave me a small display within it. Menu seemed to work but was awfully laggy (2s before any visible change). In game seemed to work but drops down to about 1fps when the players ship explodes.
On the game side, if you’re going to have such fast and tight enemy formations you really need to be able to shoot faster.

What are you complaining about? You lucky git…I want one too! ;D
LOL,
On the subject of bugs, here’s another one on a fresh machine at work:

Also, with regard to the game, it feels as though there’s too long a wait before any enemys appear - either cut this down or fill the time showing something else (i.e. “Level 1 start” text with the ship coming into view from the bottom of the screen.

Sorry for the late reply, but I’ve been away over the weekend. Anyway oh my god, this must be the buggiest pile of shit that has been put up on theese boards. : Think I’ll have to rework all the rendering code that is reused in my different games. Well, until then this project is to be considered deader then the deadest
One funny thing though, none of my friends and family that has tested any stuff I’ve made has had any problems runningt it. All of them being on WinXP of course, and most having some onboard intel gfx chip. Some of them having a laptop or a tft-monitor though.
I’m probably just late to the party but I had this problem. If the jnlp file linked to at the start of this thread is still supposed to be current then here’s the error I had, I can try to run it again later if you want (the error repeats itself so far consistantly).
An error occurred while launching/running the application.
Title: Space Shooter Concept Trial
Vendor: EnOrmous Games
Category: Unexpected Error
Unexpected exception: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
I know the feeling about trying to get a game running on more than one system at a time, especially with changing the display mode… I have found that not changing the display mode and just setting fullscreen works reasonably well, but my game isn’t particular about size of the window (though most peoples desktop resolution is much higher than is reasonable for the game and fill rate becomes an issue).
the hosted jnlp file no longer seems to exists / or the server is currently down.
