Registration Activation Quiz

If you read through the thread the problem is not bots, the problem is human spammers that actually google for the answers. That must be a very giving line of work…

Mike

I have found a site (forget the complete URL) that use mini game in JS like sliding puzzle as captcha replacement. It’s fun.

Man. That jam character is persistent.

I don’t even know what you guys are talking about…as in, I don’t remember even doing a quiz to become a member. Kind of shows how trivial it is to someone who comes here for legitimate reasons.

Face+Palm!

Hi everyone, i can’t beleive it took me so long to answer those registration questions well worth it though! Great way to keep those “unsavoury” types out.

Thanks for the security and the sense of achievement and mild humiliation haha!

Facepalm indeed.

Your first post necro’d a 4 month old thread that had no purpose in the first place.

Give him a break. He’s not making a whole new thread about it. This grants him a 4 hour window with a virtual stuffed toy.

Now that is a fantastic idea. It also keeps impatient people out (IMO: impatient people tend to be the worst forum abusers)

If human spammers are willing to wikipedia a bit, transform a bit of java code into something that compiles and runs, and figure out what greatest common divider means again – how is a slider puzzle going to stop them?

Problem with sliding puzzles is that anyone can do them. Code you have to plug in requires either knowing how to compile/run java code or knowing about online compilers.

… Jebus, I would have never imagined that spammers would go that far. Of course if you’re in the business of spamming, you can also hire some cheap worker that actually knows a bit about programming to handle these kind of sites.

What about taking a screenshot of the code snippet, then shuffling that image ;D

Oh wait, we already have an effective solution :frowning:
