Puppygames competition total flop!

Sorry that I couldn’t compete, I really wanted too, but as I stated in a post when the compo was anounced, I was just too busy (work + exam + holiday all in the timescale). I’m still quite busy this month too (another exam, giving talk). June onwards is a bit better, although the first weekend of both (June/July) are amateur radio field days. I’m just trying to do to many things at the same time these days. That reminds me. Got to prepare a presentation tonight (sigh)…

For me it was mostly just bad timing as well. As for the theme, it seemed a bit narrow as I could only come up with dig dug, miner 49’er, lemmings and (my favourite) boulder dash. All ‘sprite games’ with a side view (but maybe that’s just my own lack of creativity).

About the ‘high bar’ thing, I think you should never expect to create a fully polished game comparable to a puppy game for a contest like this.

Kudos to the one who created puppy invaders! It’s a great little applet. A very talented ‘novice’ I would say. I thought you (princec) created it.

Hell no! You should see the code, it’s outrageously awful  But it just goes to show what can be achieved and the sort of level of quality it takes to compete.

Right, the next compo will be 1 week in duration only, and have a much simpler theme. Probably… shooting

Cas

The game will get extra points if you are shooting rocks

1 week contest = lots of notice please

Kev

technically if he noitifes us 2 weeks in advance, then its a 3 week contest

hehe i think i might have a rusty old shooter lying around, might be a good chance to fix it up
but then again probably more fun to write one from scratch

unless the official theme is given the last week …

ooh! got me! =o
