Well, @ keyword comes to mind. Personally of it were me, that would be what I do, it was before but I think Riven had some issues with the database.
Notation has nothing to do with the database. I made the @ optional because it missed a lot of actual mentions. The result is a few false positives, but that’s on my todo list.
How exactly do I see where I’m mentioned? When I click the thingamajig at the top, it only shows me the 2 medals I’ve gotten. Yet it says I have 2 mentions.
sidebar + ‘my mentions’ in header, next to ‘my messages’
edit: the line describing your stats has been split in 2 seperate links.
The mention-index is being rebuilt, it now prunes ‘impossible’ mentions, where the mention happens before registration or after 2 months of last activity.
Here’s another little nit: from the My Mentions page, if you left-click on one of your new mentions, you go to that post, and that mention is no longer counted as a new mention (which show up as the count in the top bar).
However, if you right-click and open in a new tab, you still go to that post, but the mention is not marked as read, so it stays in your new mentions count.
Again, not a big deal, just another little thing I noticed.
Is this really true? I mean, some of us still talk about m77 but also some other people who have just quit themselves, it’s mostly like “I miss […]” so it would be nice if those people got notified of that when they return after a long time…
So my mentions went from 69 to 8. I’m not sure my name would have been ‘impossibly’ referenced 61 times
Edit: it cut off everything before November 26th
Edit 2: all is well again.
It’s still building the index.
Update: javascript hackery has been removed, all your usual browser navigation should work again!
You seem to mistake me for somebody with a lot of spare time. :emo:
In the first place I mistake you for someone who does have the spare time to install a little gimmick into his site that just tells people when they have been mentioned by name so…
It’s not a gimmick, really, it’s supposed to create a stronger sense of community by encouraging dialog, like medals did for going the extra mile, but then a tad more subtle. It doesn’t have to be perfect, it just should be sensible enough to support its cause.
It may very well fizzle out, but it’s worth a try. The next feature will have to encourage game creation/publishing itself, for once. :point:
My last mention was in June 2014… I really should be more active on this forum. I lost all my unatonable non-reifiable medals too :emo:
Nobody lost any medals, non-reifiable as they may be.
Oh I meant the social stats rankings, you know the medals next to the names. I used to actually have my name on them… back in 2012 or so.
Yeah. Be a better minion!
Or be a worse! That works too!
I agree with Drenius on this, I don’t think it should ignore mentions after 2 months of last activity. Sometimes I disappear for a while and if someone mentions me after 2 months, I will never see it? It should only be for impossible mentions which is before registration.
It seems like it might be broken for me. I’ve been quoted two or three times over the last few days but my last recorded mention is February 12.
At the very least tell me the topics… :emo: (keep in mind quotes no longer count as mentions)
