wow, nice one. fps were moderate and jumping around from 20 to 70. Most time i got ~50fps. But the shadow artifacts are really anoying.
The jumphigh is ok, but the jumpspeed is to high. Even the walkspeed should be more applied to the jump. I feel like i only jump into the high and not forward even if it wasn’t.
The Trailer movie wasn’t played and i got no menu music. And i was only able to see some of the menu subtitles, so i had to tryout which value stands for what…
My Specs:

Very nice, ran nearly perfectly on my oldish computer (1200mhz, radeon 8500).
You really should add an invert mouse option, even though it’s a preview version.
Oh and the loading-image/text appeared upside down.
nice!
chasing and shooting my shadow, I noticed that my left arm didn’t move.
Looks like my shadow cries for some foes
Maybe move this to the ‘Your games here’ forum, since you’re getting lots of feedback on hardware issues. ???
I ran it on my 1.3ghz laptop/512/ATI mobility U1 graphics. The first time, I got a white screen after starting the server.
I reran it after closing some apps down, I think I had an out of memory issue.
This time I got graphics, 0fps, and 100% cpu. After a bit, cpu dropped to normal but nothing happened. Below is a clip from the JWS log -

Please don’t say my video card is too junky. Its a laptop and I can’t upgrade.
HTH,
Dr. A>
PS - If it is my card, it would be nice if you had a simple test button that showed whatever openGL features were needed and tried to make an openGL view using said feature. You could check for exceptions and know the mode was available.
Your video card is too junky. 8)
The reason for the crash is that your drivers do not support VBO. Try to upgrade your OpenGL. If that don’t work your are out of luck :-/
Better error handling is due in the comming weeks. Stay tuned.
All comments, working or non-working, are welcome. So please let us know.

Me on Linux, Suse 9.1, Nvidia. Strange problem, game starts, lets me choose the host, opens the main window with those upside-down “loading” letters, and dies with:
Exception in thread “Thread-22” java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /home/neko/.java/deployment/cache/javaws/http/Dwww.megacorpsonline.com/P80/DMdownloads/DMlib/RNjogl-natives-linux.jar/libjogl_cg.so: libCg.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
at java.lang.ClassLoader$NativeLibrary.load(Native Method)… (tell me if you need more of trace)
Strange, because those files seem to be there.
We have had problems with the CG on Linux. We have not been able to webstart it without a CG environment pre-installed. Download CG from NVIDIA and run /sbin/ldconfig
The pre-requisites for runnig Megacorps on Linux is available at:

Wow, great engine :o
Everything runs fast, smooth and sweet and those shadows look sooo cool (they even seem to work a bit better than in doom3 where they look a bit fake-ish at some points)
Some little remarks:
- It seemed a bit strange that I can’t look straight up or down. It feels a bit restricted.
- In comparison, the bullets look way too cheap.
- And yeah, upside down “Loading” is just weird
- Dark alleys are pitch black, which looks fake when there’s light so close by.
You guys have made great progress! Best java based engine I’ve seen so far.
Thanks ;D
The upside down loading screen is merly an accindent 8)
The text writer was written for left handen coordinate system (orthogonal screen coordinates) , and the loading screen for a right handed, D’OH!

Ok, got it working on Linux, after RTFM. Nice and smooth, 50-80 with level 3 graphics quality (3 ghz machine, NVidia FX 5600). However, it crashes after half a minute. If you are interested, I could send you that nice verbose err log Java5 creates. Oh, and yes, no sound.
Other than that small annoyances (heh), great work guys!

Nice rework. The new version runs really smooth. Got 40-70fps. And none artifacts
But the level designer has to be kicked ;D Very odd level design…
bahh my video card can’t even load it. The game just locked up when I tried to host.
I tried hosting the game and got “Driver component mis-match. Exit is the only option”, any ideas what to do?
Hauk
I found the mouse tracking very was bad. Mouse look stuttered and snapped all over the place (2 steps forward one step back kind of thing)
Other than that it looked pretty good. Though the shadow of my weapon was missing, making it kinda funny looking to see a shadow of a guy running around “pretending” he had a weapon
